Ditch the wallet, stay all-inclusive

After a week on the beach, you checkout and look at your final resort invoice. The sticker shock of how much you and your partner spent on drinks, the spa, meals, and souvenirs start to sink in as the final number is considerably larger than you expected. This is a routine that happens at a beachside, a theme park, and other resorts across the globe. But what if this could be mostly avoided?

An all-inclusive resort is a great getaway destination that provides an affordable vacation without worrying about how much anything costs. If you haven't yet experienced an all-inclusive vacation, here's a list of what you don't have to worry about while on your getaway.

1. Eat - have breakfast, lunch, and dinner without worrying about waiting for the check at the end of the meal. Many resorts include meals at gourmet restaurants with plenty of options to choose from during your stay.

Eat and Drink without worrying about a bill.

2. Drink - order a drink with your meal, or while lounging next to the pool, or sunning on the beach. With no need to hand over your room key, you can drink like a fish all day or savor your favorite cocktail with a good book. As an added benefit, in-room minibars are often included as well!

3. Play - Go snorkeling along a reef, try your luck at paddle boarding, or spend the afternoon playing a round of golf. All-inclusive means that at many resorts, these added activities are included with your stay. This means you can do whatever you want without having to budget or plan out your days.

Snorkeling is often included!

4. Stay - tips, taxes, transfers, and other small (but required costs) are included. I personally find this super helpful as I don't need to worry about carrying small bills to tip each time I get a drink or when bell services help me with my bags. As with many of my vacations, I will deliver extra gratuities at the end of my stay to those who went above and beyond.

All-inclusive resorts are found throughout Mexico, the Caribbean islands, and in the Bahamas. Resorts range being specifically for families with plenty of entertainment for children, to resorts for adult-only vacations with plenty of adult activities. You'll also find options for every price point, from basic rooms to full suites with private butler service that are more massive than most apartments.

As the world rebounds from COVID-19, many resorts are already open and accepting visitors or are scheduled to reopen within the next few months. Now is a great time to book an all-inclusive getaway as rates are among the lowest I've seen in years, and we're all going a bit stir-crazy staying home.
